Fortnite‘OG’ was a phenomenal success for the multiplayer battle royale, so much so that it skyrocketed the player count last month.

You could argue the battle royale’s popularity is at an all-time high thanks to the previous season ‘OG,’ which brought the map back to its original form from when the game first released and gained notoriety. Not everyone was a fan though, as while many were filled with nostalgia seeing past locations and items make a comeback, there’s an argument the update made the game far less enjoyable for thosewho didn’t possess a pair of rose-tinted glasses.

Nevertheless, everything is, sort of, back to normal now, but the ‘OG’ season has left a lasting legacy, as the player count reportedly peaked in November thanks to the update.

According toEpic Games itself, an extraordinary 100 million players dropped into battle throughout November, with 44.7 million online on a single day. In a way, it was a stroke of genius, as the OG map catered to current fans looking for something new to try, as well as past fans who’d dropped the game following the introduction of more complex game modes and game mechanics.

Whether this will be the same map but as a separate game mode or another OG season bringing back a different map from the past remains a mystery, but it’s exciting nonetheless.
