It’s been years since the snarky gecko graced our screens, with the most recent entry released all the way back in 1999. Gex’s current ownerSquare Enixseemingly has no plans to bring the series back with a new entry, a heart-breaking reality that fans have been coping with for decades. Good news though, everyone’s favourite lizard will return, with a new modern platform collection from Limited Run Games.
The distributor is well-known for bringing retro video games to modern platforms, something that’s greatly needed considering87% of retro gamesare reportedly being lost forever. Limited Run announced the good news via a live-stream last night, revealing a compilation title containing all three Gex games is on the way, called Gex: Trilogy, however no release date or preorder options were shared.
CollectingGex, Gex: Enter The Gecko, andGex 3: Deep Cover Gecko, the compilation will remaster the games using the Carbon Engine, and will be available forXbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Weirdly enough, Gex isn’t the only video game reptile being resurrected, as it was recently reportedCrocwill be receiving aHD remaster.
