During an interview withStar Wars Outlaws’creative director, Julian Gerighty revealed that it’s the open-world action ofGhost of Tsushimathat influenced their creative process.

“It’s super interesting because my biggest reference wasGhost of Tsushima,” heexplainedto GamesRadar, “which is more on the Kurosawa side of inspiration than the Western, the John Ford side of the inspiration for George Lucas.”
If you’ve seenour preview ofStar Wars Outlaws,you’d be forgiven for thinking that Red Dead Redemption influenced its creation.
After all, it has plenty of wild west elements in its gameplay and story.
However, while Gerighty notes that connection, it’s the fantasy ofGhost of Tsushimathat acted as the “biggest reference”.

“This is the story, the world, the character, everything fits together with the gameplay guiding everything.
“That’s the fantasy of ‘you are a samurai ninja in Japan.’ That was one of the guiding lights for this,” Gerighty added.
Star Wars Outlawsisn’t theGhost of Tsushimasequel fans are crying out, however, its open-world journey is one that takes cues from the beloved title.
Consequently, next month, players will be treated to a comeback of sorts.

Whatever your feelings toward the upcoming Star Wars game, it proves thatGhost of Tsushima’s influence shows no signs of slowing down.
In fact, it’s still having a notable impact several years later.
That’s quite the legacy.
