Being a diehardResident Evilfan, it pains me that out of all the live-action adaptations we’ve had, not a single one has done the iconicCapcomsurvival horror series the justice it deserves. However, adaptations such as HBO’sThe Last of Usand Amazon Studios’Fallouthave shown that miracles can happen if the quality of production and respect for the source material is there.

As for casting, we’re left as much in the dark as a stealthy Shinobi warrior sneaking in the shadows. Actor Andrew Koji who plays the protagonist Jin Sakai in the video game has previously stated that he’dlove to reprise his role in the movieand the actor who provided the likeness to the video game character, Daisuke Tsuji has also thrown his name into the hat.
At this time, no casting choices have been announced but since we learned that aGhost of Tsushimamovie is in the works, a name on many fans' lips to play the uncle of Jin Sakai, Lord Shimura isShōgunandMortal Kombatactor, Hiroyuki Sanada.
According to an industry insider within the video game realm, DanielRPK,claimsthatPlayStationProductions are in talks to hire the services of Hiroyuji Sanada to play the aforementioned Lord Shimura and if this report is true, there’d be no casting choice more perfect than he.
While we should always take unconfirmed reports with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise, casting Hiroyuji Sanada not only makes sense given that he’s an amazing actor but he also has a connection with Chad Stahelski having worked with him inJohn Wick 4.
