You can understand why developers have taken a few years to take stock and decide what the next best step for the franchise is.
It looks as if there is indeed a next step though as the latest whisper in the wind is that Ghost Recon is set to make a comeback in 2025.

Henderson claims in anew reportthat the game is known internally as Ovr / Over and will be set during the fictional Naiman War.
Anonymous sources told the site that the instalment is aiming for a 2025 - 2026 release, featuring a return to a first-person perspective.
Sources described the game as a squad-based military tactical shooter that’s set to take inspiration from franchises like Modern Warfare, Battlefield,Squad, andReady or Not.
As for the fictional Naiman War, this reportedly takes place in a southeast country that sees “hundreds of thousands of people die as a result of war crimes,” as per Insider Gaming’s report.
