In 2002, Capcom created what I believe is the best remake ever,Resident Evilon the Nintendo GameCube. It had everything you’d want in a full remake. Modern visuals, improved gameplay, new enemies, locations, and much more. This would arguably set the benchmark for all remakes to come.

The firstDino Crisiswas released in 1999 and very much had the tone of the originalResident Evil 2. Instead of Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield, it starred the red-haired Regina, a special operative for S.O.R.T (Secret Operation Raid Team). Instead of Raccoon City,Dino Crisistakes place on a fictional tropical island called Ibis and much like Resident Evil’s Umbrella,Dino Crisiseven had its own secret research facility. Oh, and as the name of the game states, instead of zombies,Dino Crisishas bloodthirsty dinosaurs.

Taking further inspiration from Resident Evil, just likeRE3was an action-orientated sequel toRE2,Dino Crisis 2had more of an emphasis on arcade action than survival horror. That being said,Resident Evil 3still had plenty of horror, whereasDino Crisis 2certainly leaned more into action than its zombie-infested counterpart. Sadly for the Dino Crisis series, while Resident Evil eventually evolved into the juggernaut that it is today, Dino Crisis suffered a major identity crisis and much like its dinosaur inhabitants, it eventually became extinct.
Capcom

Fans did have hope for aDino Crisisremake when Capcom revealed a red-haired character at Sony’s State of Play in 2022 butwere ultimately left devastatedthat it ended up being a co-op dino shooter calledExoprimalwhich isalready on a path to extinction. Still, the fact that Capcom were at the very least trolling fans with a Regina lookalike indicates thatDino Crisisis at least in its thoughts because there’s no way that theExoprimalreveal trailer was a coincidence.
