“IGN’s bang-on here - this is how you cut the gap between releases while also maybe letting greener teams work on the half-sequel with established tools and support,”wroteViewerAnon. “Santa Monica Studio’s working on newGod of Warstuff and I wonder whether it will beRagnarökDLC or a half-sequel.”
The half-sequel, sometimes known as a standalone expansion, has been seen in the past with the likes ofMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. They work as a ‘1.5’ in the series, usually telling the story of a secondary character who will become heavily involved in the official sequel. If this is true, we could see aGod of War Ragnarökhalf-sequel that tells the story of Atreus who went through some pretty big changes in the latest instalment.
A sequel being on the cards would make sense considering a Santa Monica Studiojob listing surfacedin August which saw the studio looking for a regular/full-time combat designer that “must have knowledge ofGod of War(2018) andGod of War Ragnarök(2022)”.
However, with no official announcement as of yet, another sequel is up to the Norse gods themselves.
