Since that official announcement, we’ve had to make do with rumours, gossip and of course thoseearly gameplay leakswhich looked to be taken from a very early build ofGTA VI. That being said in respect to the many rumours, I’m a believer in no smoke without fire, so aside from the gameplay leaks, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other rumours prove to be true.

According to the LinkedInprofile of Jon Young, a former developer at Rockstar Games, he claims to have worked onGTA VIfrom 2015 to 2018 as a lead video editor, seemingly confirming that the game was in development around two years after the release ofGTA Von PS3 and Xbox 360, and four years prior to the official announcement ofGTA VI.

In September 2022, Rockstar Games leaker of information Tez2claimed thatGTA VIwas rebootedaround the time ofRed Dead Redemption 2’slaunch in 2018. If true, this 2018 date falls in line with the LinkedIn profile of Jon Young who was working on the game up until 2018. Keeping in mind that Rockstar Games never actually confirmedGTA VI’sdevelopment until 2022. So it’s looking increasingly likely thatGTA VImay have started development not for the first time at around Rockstar Games’ announcement last year.

It is believed thatGrand Theft Auto VIwill be released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, leaving last-gen consoles behind.
