GTA VIis quite possiblythemost anticipated video game of all time. I don’t say this as a rabid fanboy, to be clear (I’m not even really that bothered about Grand Theft Auto), but it’s just true, isn’t it?
Rockstar GamesannouncedGTA VIwas in activedevelopment way back in February 2022, but that’s pretty much all we’ve heard outside of fansrushing live TV showsandinfamous gameplay leaks.

One of the more interestingGTA VIrumours suggests that the game will be “the most expensive entertainment product of all time”, which isn’t too surprising givenit’s been in development for at least 10 years at this point.

As it turns out, the game may well have a price tag to match those development costs. Speculation is rife that Rockstar Games will charge $150 (roughly £117) forGTA VIgiven its size, scope, and development costs.
It’s important to note this price tag appears to have sprung from speculation related to the development costs, and it’s actually rather unlikely Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive would ever dream of charging quite so much for a video game. Then again, this is the same company thatjust charged £40 for a port ofRed Dead Redemptionand £35 forGTA Von new-gen consoles, so who’s to say what they’d try and pull?
At any rate, this $150 price tag has split gamers. It would seem a rather alarming number of fansare actually willing to fork outthe money for the game, arguing that if we can assume there’s at least 150 hours of content inGTA VI- a fairly safe bet - then they’re only really paying a dollar an hour.

“They won’t charge more than $70, but I would be embarrassed to admit how high of an amount I’d be willing to shell out for it,” wrote on Reddit user.
Another added that selling the game for $150 would be “disgusting”, but admitted they’d still pay it.
Others, meanwhile, said such a price would be “lethal” to their wallets and that there was no way they could afford it. We’ll have to hope Rockstar and Take-Two don’t try to charge more than the standard £70 forGTA VI. Though clearly, based on early reactions, they might just get away with asking for more.
