
GTA VImay well be landing on consoles beyond the standard PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S models, as if we weren’t having a difficult enough time imagining the next Grand Theft Auto launching at all.
It’s been what feels like 1,000 years sinceRockstarfirstofficially confirmed the existenceofGTA VI.That’s all we’ve had in an official capacity, though themajor September leakhas given way to numerous unofficial details finding their way online. At this stage we can be fairly certain that the new GTA will launch onPlayStation 5andXbox Series X/S, but it’s been suggested the game will go beyond these platforms.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked whether he expects to see another round of hardware released before the console generation is over. He believes this will “probably” be the case, but added it would likely “not affect the business very much”. This, of course, implies they’re ready for any new hardware that might arise.
Leaks suggesta souped-up PlayStation 5 Pro consolecould arrive in 2024, and it’s likely an enhanced Xbox Series model wouldn’t be too far behind. If these new consoles do indeed line up with the launch ofGTA VI, it could be that the long-awaited sequel releases alongside the mid-gen hardware refresh. This doesn’t meanGTA VIwould be unplayable on the standard PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, of course, but we’d imagine the superior hardware would have some added benefits.
