How much shouldGTA VIcost when it comes out? This is the question fans are debating, with the answer far from being straightforward as the discussions turn to squabbles over acceptable video game prices.
We can all expect the upcomingGTAtitle to at least retail at the industry standard, especially when taking into account how meticulousTake-TwoInteractive is about “appropriate” pricing – theRed Dead Redemptionport proved this. Still, fans are concerned the game could end up being more expensive after Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s claims that games are “very, very low” in price.

“It’s more like AAA game development costs have ballooned far, far higher than they ever should have,”statedone gamer, before adding, “I also really hate the perspective of ‘the value of a game is in how many hours you get out of it’. Not every game needs to be a 100 plus hour open-world collection to be worth buying. I paid $40 for Hi-Fi rush, got ‘only’ 10 hours out of it, and it’s the best video game I’ve played all year.”
This is the issue with believing the value of a game is in the hours of content it delivers; yes, some games are epically long, with each hour worthwhile entertainment, but other titles are smaller yet just as impactful. It’s a concept Zelnick doesn’t seem to quite grasp.
With fans saying, “The hours of gameplay equals price ratio has done such a disaster on certain genres. That s**t needs to die yesterday,” the cost ofGTA VIwill make for interesting online rants.
