GTA 6 publisher to cancel multiple projects amidst layoffs

Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two Interactive is laying off some of its workers, resulting in multiple project cancellations.

GAMINGbible recently sat down with the cast of the live-actionFalloutseries for a game of snog, marry, irradiate. Check it out below.

It’s been heartbreaking to see so many affected, but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be over yet, as nowTake-Two Interactive, parent company toRockstar Games, has announced it’ll be laying off 5% of its workers.

This comes amidst fears that Rockstar’s next major title,GTA VI, will be delayed following the game’s development running behind schedule.

Rockstar reportedly told its workers it’ll no longer be supporting working from home as the game nears completion, requiring staff to return to the office.

Take-Two Interactive recentlystatedit had begun a cost reduction program, and “as part of these efforts, the Company is rationalising its pipeline and eliminating several projects in development and streamlining its organisational structure, which will eliminate headcount and reduce future hiring needs."

Unfortunately, it’s unknown what teams have been affected and what projects have been cancelled.

It’s also unknown if the projects were related to video games at all, and if Rockstar Games was hit in any way.

Presumably, Rockstar is valued far too much for Take-Two to allow layoffs, especially withGTA VIon the way next year, but never say never.

All in all, it’s another upsetting blow to the wider industry, which has seemingly received nothing but bad news for the past few months, and is potentially set to receive more as the year goes on.
