The project was first revealed back in 2021 when Meta announced it would be attempting to make a VR remake ofGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Described as “a project many years in the making”, the VR remake has never received any gameplay footage or a release date but that now doesn’t seem to be a problem.
The news comes after a Meta spokesperson spoke to IGN and confirmed the project was now on indefinite hold.
“GTA: San Andreasis on hold indefinitely while we both focus on other projects,” the statement read.

San Andreaswas first released in 2004 for the PS2 and as the seventh main title in the Rockstar series, it is still praised to this day.
That is why fans are disappointed with the news.
“Outside of VRchat with friends and Beat Saber for exercise, I haven’t used my VR headset for much,” one comment read.
