GTA Online gets major update we’ve waited 9 years for

It has taken nine years, butGTA Onlinehas finally implemented an update that will please all players. Well, except for the ones the update is targeting.

Because this update has the cheaters in its sights. If you’ve played any amount ofGTA Onlineon PC, you’ll have run into a cheater and they just ruin the game.

GTA Onlineis a huge cash cow for Rockstar Games so it’s no surprise to see them banning cheaters

Of course, you could leave the server and come back, but it’s highly likely you’ll bump into another.

Hopefully, this latest step fromRockstar Gamesmeans this will happen less frequently as they havepartnered up with BattleEye, a third-party anti-cheat company.

This comes with various upsides, with the main one being that many players will find themselves banned for using cheats in the game.

It is a step in the right direction though, as many note thatGTA Onlinehas become pretty much unplayable due to the volume of cheaters running rampant through the servers.

Why has it taken so long? It’s hard to say, but perhaps the addition of anti-cheat means that PC players will finally get updates in line with their console counterparts.

Players have been calling for Rockstar Games to step in and do something about the cheating and while it has taken ages to fix, it will go a long way with those dedicated supporters.

This move could also be in preparation forGTA VI, which might not launch with an online component, but the developers will surely want to future-proof and work out any kinks before their biggest-ever game eventually goes online.
