
Two games based on the popular 1978 classicHalloweenare currently in active development, and fans of the franchise will doubtlessly be thrilled to learn that the man behind the original film is closely involved with both projects.
The team has previously worked onEvil Dead: The Game, which was based on another popular horror franchise: 1981’sEvil Dead.

Director John Carpenter is best known for directing several cult classic films, includingThe Thing,Escape From New York,Big Trouble in Little China, and the originalHalloween.

Carpenter is also a big old video game nerd (he’s just like me for real), so his involvement in the upcomingHalloweengames is more of an endorsement than you might think.

He’s previously expressed his love for several video game properties, which more than usually end up including horror games. Who’d have thought?
He’s also explicitly expressed interest in directing a film based on theDead Spacegames, which isn’t a surprise given thathe regularly talks abouthis love for the franchise.
Details on the two Halloween games are currently sparse, but Boss Team Games did announce that they will allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time”.
Boss Team Games CEO Steve Harris noted in the press release for the untitled games that “getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true”.

He also stated, “Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honoured to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.”
One of those said games is being made in Unreal Engine 5, an exciting prospect. The other is seemingly a retro-stylised side scroller titledHalloween and Ash vs Evil Dead RetroRealms Double Featurewhich has been leaked onlineviaWario64. Pre-order are up for $49.99.
