Halo 7 teaser leaves fans feeling conflicted

Once upon a time, Halo was the poster child of Xbox.

And while, yes, you’ll still see Master Chief included on promotional graphics from time to time, he’s hardly the figure he once was.

You see,Halo: Infinitedidn’t exactly have the strongest launch.

Developers at343 Industrieshad more than a few bugs to deal with, but that was hardly the game’s most glaring issue.

Halo: Infinitelaunched without a co-op campaign, sending player numbers plummeting to anall-time low.

The only saving grace was the assurance that co-op would eventually land as a post-launch update.

The game is otherwise in a pretty decent state today but with all of the drama behind it plus the cancellation of the underwhelming TV adaptation, fans are eager to usher in a fresh era.

Well, that era may be here before we know it.

ICYMI:Indiana Jones and the Great Circleis Xbox’s big headliner for the remainder of 2024.

While a newHaloinstalment hasn’t been formally announced yet, one is believed to be in the works.

In fact, new information has surfaced suggesting that the game entered development back in 2022.

In addition to revealing that the game has been in development for at least two years, it can also be gleaned that the project is being created in Unreal Engine 5.

Slutz’s profile reads that he has experience at 343 Industries in “building player systems and assets in Unreal Engine 5”.

For Dinges, he wrote that he “worked on Halo’s next unannounced game” with the role start date listed as April 2022.

Beyond this, we have very little idea about what’s in store but let’s just hope that Halo fans can finally catch a break after several years of disappointment.
