BeforeHalo: Combat Evolved, FPS games on consoles were clunky experiences, unlike the super smooth shooters onPCsuch as the Quake series. Despite its bright colours and emphasis on action, it might be easy to forget that Halo also has its fair share of intense, horror-inspired moments. Anyone who remembers the mission ‘Well Enough Alone’ inHalo: Combat Evolvedwill know the horror that section brings, largely thanks to the Flood.

Sadly, those horror moments in the Halo series are few and far between, and for good reason, because this is a series not focused on horror. However, if you wanted a heavy dose of Halo scares, then you’re in the right place.
