Harry Potter HBO reboot has found its Dumbledore, apparently

The latest Harry Potter project is in development and a new television show means a brand-new cast.

Although there has been no official castings as of yet, open castings began back in September and as you can imagine, fans are wondering who will take on the role of some of the iconic characters.

So far, Sirius Black actor Gary Oldman has expressed his interest inreturning to the roleor maybe even becoming the next Dumbledore now that he is older.

In astatementto Variety, representatives for HBO said: “We appreciate that such a high profile series will draw a lot of rumour and speculation. As we make our way through pre-production, we will only confirm details as we finalise deals.”

According to the report,Wolf HallandBridge of Spiesactor Mark Rylance is in talks to take on the role of Dumbledore in the HBO Harry Potter reboot.

HBO have reached out to Rylance but there is no confirmation as of yet.

Richard Harris took up the mantle before his death and then the role was passed onto Michael Gambon as ofHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

It is definitely some big shoes to fill but if anybody could do it, Rylance can.

For now, we will just have to wait to see if HBO’s plans come to fruition but with the show due to air in 2026, it won’t be long before we see which actors will step into the shoes of the golden trio.
