Fans of the Harry Potter novels and movies have had a lot to celebrate in recent months and the upcoming TV series from HBO might be a cause of celebration more than most.

Seeing as the cast of characters is yet to be revealed, fans have had to rely on gossip as to who will not only play Harry Potter but also the likes ofHermione GrangerandProfessor Severus Snapebut now it seems suitors for those roles may soon be filled.
Continuing to keep eager fans on their toes wondering how the Harry Potter TV series is shaping up behind the scenes, an HBO executive has provided a subtle update that will likely excite the masses.
“There’s not a lot to talk about at this moment,” said Dungey. “We’ve got our fantastic writing staff in place and they are doing what they need to do. And casting calls have opened up in the U.K. and Ireland, so the process is moving along. It’s going quite well.”

More interestingly, Dungey added: “It’s an unbelievable dream, honestly, and as somebody who is a huge fan of books, the opportunity to get to explore them in maybe a little bit more in-depth than you can in just a two-hour film, that’s the whole reason we’re on this journey.”
That being said, while the words of Channing Dungey have every reason to get us excited, it’s also important to remember that Dungey’s role at the panel was to help promote the series and it’s not like she’s going to say anything negative about it.
The Harry Potter TV series is expected to be released sometime in 2026.
