Don’t get too excited though Harry Potter fans, as a recent job listing for Avalanche, the development studio behindHogwarts Legacy, could spell trouble for the sequel.
It’s pretty obvious the listing is for the sequel as one of the experiences it wants is time on “magical combat games.”
The listing also states the new title will be “a new open world, action RPG” that’ll include a “live ops”, also known as live-service.
As you’d expect fans aren’t pleased with this possibility, especially after the most recent Arkhamverse game,Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, crashed and burned due to its dependance on live-service mechanics and lootboxes.

Speaking in a Reddit thread reporting on the job listing, one fanpredictedWarner Bros is going to “live service this one into the ground.”
Live-service aside some have high hopes, but feel the developers won’t deliver. “Make us play as an auror outside of Hogwarts and add in a nemesis system for dark wizards/deatheaters to hunt, without any live service bs and you’ll have a kickass sequel … of course, they won’t do any of that.”
That being said, some were more on board with the sequel than others, like one player who said they “won’t hesitate to buy again” if the sequel can improve on the story.
Take all of this with a pinch of salt, as the game still needs to be officially announced before jumping to any conclusions.
