Hogwarts Legacy beats Call Of Duty’s 5-year record as best-selling game of year

Despite a five-year streak,Call of Dutywill not take the spot of best-selling game of 2023 with the award instead heading to the Avalanche Software title,Hogwarts Legacy.

With the first entry releasing way back in 2003, theCall of Dutyfranchise has gone on to dominate the gaming world, especially with the FPS becoming the best-selling game in the US every year (minus three) since 2009.

This news comes courtesy of GamesIndustry.biz who recentlyreleased a reportdetailing the global games market values, the best selling games of 2023 and more. It was during this report that it was revealedHogwarts Legacycame out on top which marks the first timeCall of Dutyhas lost out sinceRed Dead Redemption 2won back in 2018.

In related news, despite initially being snubbed at The Game Awards,Hogwarts Legacyhasfinally been nominatedfor an award - The Steam Awards’ Game of the Year. Going up againstEA Sports FC24, Baldur’s Gate 3, Lethal Company, andResident Evil 4,it has some tough competition but it’s nice to see the title recognised at last.
