Fans have rallied behind a petition that continues to garner more signatures from passionate fans in the hope that Warner Bros. Game won’t butcher the expectedHogwarts Legacy 2with a controversial feature.
For good reason,Hogwarts Legacybecame one of 2023’s best video games when it launched in February for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S before being ported to other platforms. Eventually becoming thebest-selling video gamewas no small achievement in a year that boasted the likes ofAlan Wake 2,The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,Baldur’s Gate 3and much more.

Don’t get me wrong, if done right, the live service formula can prove to be a success as seen with the likes ofFortnite,Call of Duty: Warzoneand to some extent, the early days ofDestiny. However, in most cases, outside of the successful few, live service games tend to be massive flops that are killed off before they’ve achieved a year of existence.
One recent live service flop on a colossal level isSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is a damn shame considering this is from the same studio that brought us theBatmanArkham series. For example, at least on PC,according toSteamDB at the time of writing,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguehas a pitiful concurrent 24-hour player peak of just 319.
Yet, despite the failure ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League(and so many others), Warner Bros. Games announced that it still intends topush forward with the live-service formulaand this has gotHogwarts Legacyfans very concerned.
As a result, fans haveorganised a petitioncalling for Warner Bros. Games not to makeHogwarts Legacy 2a live service. Right now, the petition has achieved its original goal of 7,500 signatures and continues to rise.

It’s unlikely that this petition will change the mindset of Warner Bros. Games investors because, at the end of the day, it’s all about making all the money in the world and keeping shareholders happy, but at least we can attempt to have our voices heard.
