Reviews forHogwarts Legacywere very positive, on the whole. With a collection of Metacritic scores all sitting within the 80s (with some slight fluctuation depending on the platform), it’s hard to deny that the Wizarding World RPG did well, as far as most critics were concerned.

“I’ve only been on Reddit for a few days, but my observation of this sub has led me to believe that a large number of people may have simply expected too much from this game,” QuicheLeewrote. “The Wizarding World is exactly that - a world. It’s huge. As I’ve said on a previous post, this isAvalanche’sfirst attempt at a Wizarding World RPG, so it was never going to be all singing, all dancing. J.K. Rowling couldn’t include all aspects of the world intoseven books, so how could you expect Avalanche to include everything in one game?”

Others agree: “We live in a world where every game gets compared toRed Dead Redemption 2. Of course some people expected too much. My expectations were fulfilled and it was better than expected,” Lord_Detleff1commented. “I agree. People also expected the game to be something it never claimed it was going to be. Also Avalanche was pretty open and honest about what would and wouldn’t be in the game from the start so [I don’t know] why people are still going on aboutQuidditchand other things like we didn’t already know about its omission from the game,” Magic_mayhem21added.
At this point, it feels like it’s only a matter of time beforeHogwarts Legacygets a DLC expansion or sequel, so we’ll have to see if whatever comes next is able to meet players’ lofty expectations.
