The partnership seems to be a permanent ongoing thing, as Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions will also be teaming up to tackle the upcomingGhost of Tsushimafilm adaptation and a sequel toUncharted.
Sony and HBO also dropped a new trailer forThe Last of Us' second season.
Beyond all of this… there’s not really much else we know about the adaptation. No dates or casting news has been revealed, although Asad Qizilbash did have this to say regarding the production.

“Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions are at the early stages of developing a film adaptation of the award-winningHorizon Zero Dawn,” Qizilbash stated at the CES reveal.
“Just imagine, Aloy’s beloved origin story set in a vibrant, far future world filled with the giant machines, brought to you for the first time on the big screen.”
Yeah well, you’ll be imagining for a hell of a lot longer, because I can’t imagine we’ll be seeing this for quite some time.
Columbia Pictures and Sony Productions have their hands full withGhost of TsushimaandUncharted 2, and aHorizon Zero Dawnfilm sounds like a pretty big undertaking to me.

Casting-wise, fans are throwing around a lot of names for Aloy.
I’ve seen people suggesting Sophia Lillis (ofDungeons & Dragons: Honor Among ThievesandItfame) and Anya Taylor-Joy (best known forFuriosa: A Mad Max Saga,The MenuandThe Witch), but ignore all of those dorks and listen to my fan casting instead; Amber Midthunder.
Either way, prepare to wait a good year or so before you hear anything out of this one.
