Story details are unknown at the time of writing, though what we do know now is that film and music superstarJack Black will be playing the film’s protagonist, Steve.
Black confirmed as much with arecent videowalking through his on-set trailer, which had “Steve” inscribed on the door and had the inside decorated with pictures of the Minecraft character.

This marks the second video game film Jack Black has starred in so far, the first being the recent Mario film where he played the plumber’s iconic villain Bowser.
The actor has alsoexpressed interestin starring in other projects, including a live-actionRed Dead Redemptionfilm which he believes to be a no-brainer given the success of theRockstar Gamesseries.
Minecraftis set to release in cinemas sometime in April 2025, meaning we can probably expect a trailer sometime towards the end of the year.
