The DC roster is packed with iconic characters. When it comes to Batman’s rogues gallery, you’re really spoilt for choice. The caped crusader has faced off against some dastardly villains over the years, but Joker and Harley Quinn almost always come out on top as the most popular.
We’ll soon be able to see the duo brought to life in the sequel toJoker, titledJoker: Folie á Deux. We’ve already had ourfirst look at Lady Gaga in actionalongside the returning Joaquin Phoenix. It’s believed that the film will be a musical, but not in the traditional sense. Make of that what you will. That’s not the project that I’m here to tell you about today though. It’s now been announced that Joker and Harley will also be getting their own anime. Ooo, indeed.
DC’sBlue Beetlewill be released later this year. Take a look at the trailer below.
The series is not connected to James Gunn and Peter Safran’srebooted DCU.Jujutsu Kaisenchief animation director Eri Osada is directing the project, while Tappei Najatsuki and Eiji Umehara are on writing duties. At Anime Expo, Osada revealed that Joker and Harley will lead the show, although it’ll be a new take on Joker. He explained, “Everybody has their favourite version of Joker. We ultimately decided to not copy any particular iteration and have something completely unique.”
