LEGO PlayStation 2 set teased, and I must have it now

APlayStation 2LEGO set could be finding its way to store shelves soon, provided thatSonyandLEGOcan come to an official agreement regarding its prototype.

The model in question comes from the LEGO IDEAS site, which allows users to upload their own custom LEGO models so that others can replicate their builds.

LEGO IDEAS is primarily supposed to serve as a hosting site for the schematics of custom LEGO builds, but it does have another, lesser-known function: turning community ideas into official products.

Once a product gains enough supporters on the site, LEGO will consider it for an official review - andRippleDrive’s Sony PlayStation 2 modelpassed that mark mere days ago.

Plus, this model is going to have to get around an issue that other custom builds on the site likely won’t; licensing.

Obviously, LEGO doesn’t own the rights to the PlayStation 2 model. They’ll have to get in contact with Sony and figure out a deal of sorts before this model can find its way onto store shelves.

However, that’s actually a lot more likely to happen than it might seem. Both Sony and LEGO recently partnered up on the November 2024 titleLego Horizon Adventures,so they clearly already have a good working relationship.

Plus, I have a feeling that there’s a pretty big market for a model like this, and I’d be surprised if the marketing team at LEGO hadn’t already clocked onto something like that.

Only time will tell however, so we’ll have to wait to see how the review process works out later on this month.
