Marvel already killed off the MCU’s main Kang without us noticing

Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the midst of its comeback era?

Fair to say, theMCUnever really went away but it has been experiencing a noticeable level of fatigue in recent years.

That appears to be dissipating though.

Deadpool & Wolverinehas proved to be a fun and enjoyable romp, plus last weekend’s San Diego Comic Con panel promised a bright future for the remainder of The Multiverse Saga.

During the Hall H panel, it was revealed that Avengers 5 - originally namedThe Kang Dynasty- will now be titledDoomsday.

It’s a decision that’s split the opinion of fans.

Does this take away from Tony Stark’s perfect ending? Or is there a strike of creative genius in having the guy who saved the universe in one timeline wanting to destroy it in another?

The Russo brothers are back in the director’s seat so I have great faith, but the question on everybody’s lips now is: what does this mean for Kang?

ICYMI:Captain America 4: Brave New Worldhas dropped its first trailer.

Kang and his many variants haven’t exactly proved popular with audiences.

Yes, assumedly we haven’t yet met the most powerful Kang with Kang The Conqueror perhaps held back forAvengers 5but those we did meet didn’t exactly secure our interest.

Of course, there’s then the allegations made against actor Jonathan Majors.

It became a question of: is Kang a character worth recasting? And it seems the answer is no.

So what will become of Kang? We can’t simply sweep this branching storyline under the carpet.

Some fans thinkDoomsdaywill open with Doctor Doomputting a rapid stop to the character.

Others think Kang may have already been destroyed.

Reddit user DCandMoretheorised, “I think it’s safe to assume that the main variant of Kang the Conqueror genuinely did die at the end ofQuantumaniaand will most likely stay dead.”

It’s not a bad theory. I don’t think Marvel will want to drag this out but we have received confirmation that we’ll get some kind of Kang closure inDoomsdayso there’s got to be slightly more to the tale.

“Yup. And we will simply get a passing comment that the TVA dealt with the remaining Kang variants on multiple timelines,”addedAW038619.

We’re in for an interesting couple of years.
