Marvel fans divided over OG Avengers stars returning for Doomsday with major twist

I’ve always wondered whether the Marvel Cinematic Universe would spawn anything that lived up to the dual cinematic events that wereAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame.

Nothing with that kind of build up and crossover ambition had been attempted in cinema before, and I think that’s partly why The Multiverse Saga initially suffered.

There was a loss in momentum and, of course, Kang didn’t prove to be a particularly good or popular villain.

Things are looking up though and once again, theMCUfinds itself on an upwards trajectory - one that’ll eventually lead us toAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Wars.

It’s going to be very exciting seeing the Avengers back on our screens, including one familiar face in a new capacity.

It’s no secret that Robert Downey Jr. is set to return to the franchise, but this time as villain Victor Von Doom.

It’s not the only twist that fans are hoping to see in the film though.

I have to say, I’m not against it. It would be a nice way to get Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans back on our screens.

Of course, not everyone is here for the idea.

“Wait this could go unironically hard,”wroteRubiconPizzaDelivery, while tronfonnecountered, “I’m so glad fans don’t write these movies.”

You can imagine the constant flickering between, “This could be amazing,” and, “That would suck”.

As I said, I’m not totally against the idea if it’s well thought out and not a cheap attempt at fan service, but I also can’t really see it happening.

With Downey Jr.’s return already splitting opinion,Marvelexecutives might not want to push those who are accusing the studio of catering to fan service too far.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2026 to find out whatDoomsdayhas in store.
