Marvel fans divided over rumoured prequel to Avengers: Infinity War

Marvel Studios has changed its tactics in recent years.

Gone are the days of announcing decades-long plans in advance.

The Infinity Saga’s release may have been smooth sailing, but that’s not the case for The Multiverse Saga.

If this second era has proved anything, it’s that plans may need to fluctuate and change.

You need look no further than the renaming ofAvengers: The Kang Dynasty, nowAvengers: Doomsday, as proof of that.

With this in mind,MarvelStudios is now focusing on publicising just a handful of projects at a time - seen with this summer’s San Diego Comic Con panel that featured information onCaptain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, andAvengers: Doomsdayonly.

That does mean we’re less in the know about what’s coming up in theMCU’s pipeline.

Spider-Man 4andThor 5are assumed to be in the works, but neither have had ceremonious reveals.

Another unexpected project is also reportedly in development that would bring back two pre-Infinity Warera characters.

To refresh your memory, Reilly portrayed Rhomann Dey, a corpsman in the aptly titled NOVA Corps.

Close brought Irani Rael to life, the group’s leader.

It’s never been explained exactly how this happened, including whether Rael and Dey survived Thanos’ inevitable attack or the so-called successive ‘snap’.

At this early stage, the response is mixed.

“I assume this is a prequel series toInfinity Warsince Thanos decimated Xandar, unless both characters somehow survived him grabbing the power stone,”wroteJStormtrooper.

“Thank god. Imagine having THE Glenn Close in the MCU and not using her,”commentedTheJackOfDiamonds, while The_Overlord_Laharladded, “Please just give us Richard Rider reestablishing the corps post-Xandar. I don’t care for Gunn’s version of them tbh.”
