A major shift in how Marvel operates is underway, and with this change comes the abandonment of several MCU plans.

TheMCUhas played out in a very specific way both on the big screen and via Disney+.

Consequently, theMCU as we know it is coming to an endand is in a state of flux as it transitions to this new approach.

That said, not every series has worked out as well.

Previous strategy relied on a head writer taking charge rather than a showrunner, an integral role that virtually every other TV show has.

Without a showrunner, once these MCU series went to production, the head writer would transfer control over to the director.

Naturally, this can cause a sense of disconnect between what was intended and the final product audiences see.

Despite working fairly well for its cinematic outings, this approach is being scrapped and a showrunner introduced; the first project since this transition isAgatha All Along.

When the show airs, it will act as an ushering in of a new era for both Disney and the MCU.

“It’s not so much about the interconnected pieces than it’s an opportunity to go down a rabbit hole with a character or a set of characters.”

Although this is the new approach, Schaeffe explains that they still “subscribe to the initial pitch about what [the Marvel series] were meant to be.”

The end result in the long run, hopefully, is that the shows will feel more like a TV series as opposed to a cinematic outings shoehorned into the wrong medium.

Whether it pans out or not will start to become apparent whenAgatha All Alongdebuts on 18 September.
