If rumours are true, it appears Marvel is doing what we thought they never would, and recasting Black Panther.
Marvel will be back in cinemas this year with the ensemble filmThunderbolts*

Following his death, the sequel paid homage to the actor and had Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, take on the role of Black Panther instead.
Marvel insider, Jeff Sneider, has reportedthat Marvel is taking steps to recast the role ahead of the two upcoming Avengers films,Avengers: DOOMSDAYandAvengers: Secret Wars, and, I assume,Black Panther 3.
Sneider went on to say that Marvel had actually recast the role behind closed doors and offered an actor the role, but the deal fell through.

Until this point, it seemed Marvel was hesitant to recast the role due to Boseman’s impact and out of respect for the actor.
Of course, in the world ofcomic books, heroes and villains are replaced all the time with other characters stepping up to don the costume, but this seems like the new actor will actually be T’Challa.
How the company handles this will be incredibly important, not only for continuity, but for the fans who have a lot of love for Chadwick Boseman.
Now, let’s for now take this with a pinch of salt. While Sneider has been right in the past, this could be merely rumour.

We’ll have to wait to see what Marvel has in store for us. I just hope that, if this plan turns out to be real, this T’Challa happens to come from within the multiverse as a variant to put some distances between them and Boseman.
