Mass Effectmade its debut in 2007 and has since spawned various sequels establishing itself as one ofBioWare’smost popular properties alongside the likes ofDragon Ageas well as the originalStar Wars:Knights of the Old Republic.

Yet, whenMass Effect 5was announced during The Game Awards in 2020, fans' excitement was blasted into the stratosphere especially when we set eyes on the returning Liara T’Soni. So when we saw the return of everyone’s favourite Asari, surely it meant that the band was getting back together?
I am about to go intospoilerterritory for the original Mass Effect trilogy, so you have been warned but I will try to be somewhat vague. In a nutshell, unless there’s a triumphant miracle in theMass Effectlore, the male or female Commander Shepard isn’t coming back.
Whenspeaking toDexerto, Jennifer Hale, the voice of ‘FemShep’ revealed that she’s not received a call from either Electronic Arts or BioWare about reprising her role inMass Effect 5and it seems ‘MaleShep’, Mark Meer hasn’t either.
“I don’t think I can get in trouble because I honestly don’t know anything,” said Hale. “I would love to come back, I would come back in a hot second, but I haven’t heard from anyone yet.”

Jennifer Hale went on to say that if we want her and Mark Meer to reprise their soles inMass Effect 5, we should let our voices be heard towards EA and BioWare. Whether or not those voices will be heard, remains to be seen, but we can at least try.
A release date hasn’t been announced forMass Effect 5nor have platforms been confirmed, yet.
