It’s the most exciting time of the year folks; drama surroundingDisney’squarterly earnings statements! Personally, nothing gets me more hyped than listening to a bunch of old white dudes in a board room talking about their quarterly profits.
Now don’t worry, I’m not gonna make you go through the presentation and read a bunch of waffle from some decrepit millionaires.

Here’s the exact quote from Nick Mason’s dad Bob Iger: “In 2025, our theatrical slate remains just as robust, with Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Zootopia 2, and Avatar 3. And in 2026, we look forward to Avengers: Doomsday, a new Star Wars movie featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu, and Toy Story 5…”
Obviously,Bladehas been omitted from that list. Now, sure, that could have been an oversight. Maybe Bob has been feeling a little forgetful lately.
But let’s be real, this information was revealed during a meeting in which all of Disney’s biggest investors were present. Bob would have had a script. Bob knew what he was doing. Bob leftBladeoff on purpose.
Naturally, this has led some people to believe that the film has been cancelled entirely. Folks on Reddit and Twitter immediately picked up on the omission and went straight into doomposting mode, likethis one personwho said “I don’t think it’s going to happen at all at this point. With Ali going to do Jurassic Park and all the troubles in production, it’s probably all but cancelled.”

It’s more than likely that the film isn’t cancelled however, and just continues to languish in development hell instead. Not sure if that’s better or worse.
It wasconfirmed not too longago thatBladewould have a November 2025 release date, so it’s more than likely that its release date has just been pushed back to a later, currently unconfirmed year.
Although Bob Iger also didn’t list it in the upcoming 2026 movies, alongside other MCU titles likeAvengers: Doomsday, this doesn’t confirm that anything has been cancelled. Rather it just confirms that they’re not too sure exactly whenBladeis going to come out.
Still, it’s not a great sign.Blade’sdelays and production issues have been pretty common knowledge at this point, so intentionally leaving it off the slate of upcoming projects does imply it’s run into further issues.

There’s no way to know anything for sure until we hear more from Disney however, so watch this space for further updates. Hopefully we won’t have to wait until the Q4 earnings report to find out more.
