Perhaps the most iconic building in the MCU, Avengers Tower is an integral part of the fictional New York City’s skyline. Or at least it was.
Marvelfans with an intimate knowledge of theMCUwill be aware Tony Stark originally turned his central Manhattan skyscraper into a headquarters for TheAvengers, before ultimately selling it and moving the team to a facility outside of the city.
It’s never explainedwhyStark decided to sell the tower, but I always figured he decided having a powerful superhero team camped out in the middle of New York City might be a bit dangerous for, you know, everyone else.

Regardless of the why, I’m delighted to say Marvel has finally revealed exactly who bought the tower from Stark, though I’m not sure it’s going to be used with the best of intentions going forward.
Many suspected that CIA Director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine was behind the purchase. Not a huge leap, given variousteasesin things likeBlack WidowandFalcon And The Winter Soldiersuggest she’s trying to build her own team of superheroes - one the US government can actually control.
While the new trailer doesn’t explicitly say “this is Avengers tower”, only a fool would think it could be any other building.

“How crazy is it to think of all the monumental fights that happened exactly where you’re standing?” Valentina asks the Thunderbolts as they exit an elevator to averyfamiliar looking penthouse and bar. “I mean the place wasn’t cheap, but it’s got good optics.”
She can’t possibly be talking about anything else, right? This is Avengers Tower, and Valentina is putting together her own team. We also know the asterisk at the end ofThunderbolts*is there for a reason, so I’m willing to be any amount of money the film ends to reveal the team’s new name is Dark Avengers, or New Avengers, or Secret Avengers.
Thunderbolts*arrives in May 2025, so we don’t have long to wait to find out.
