MCU fans united over perfect Storm casting

It’s no secret that the X-Men are expected to play a large role in the Marvel Cinematic Univere’s Phase Seven - although that’s something that won’t kick off until afterAvengers: Secret Wars.

We’re currently amidst Phase Five, which will conclude later this year follow the release of bothCaptain America: Brave New WorldandThunderbolts*.

Phase Six is then due to bring usThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, Blade, the untitledSpider-Manproject, as well asEyes of Wakanda, Marvel Zombies, Wonder Man,andVision Quest.

That’ll draw The Multiverse Saga to a close.

At the present moment, we don’t know what the following saga will be called although we’re all suspecting it to be centred around the X-Men and mutants.

Admittedly, mutants have already started arriving in theMCU.Deadpool & Wolverinedrafted plenty of familiar faces, including the likes of Gambit and X-23.

Let’s not forget that, canonically, the MCU’s Kamala Khan is also a mutant.

One character who I’m almost certain will be introduced as a priority is Storm, a key figure within the X-Men.

While the character hasn’t formally been cast, one actress has thrown her name into the hat - andMarvelfans are certainly on board with the idea.

In an interview with the National Board of Review at their annual awards ceremony,Wickedstar Cynthia Erivo expressed her interest in playing Storm.

“I really want to play Storm,” shesaid.

“I know it sounds frivolous but I don’t think we’ve uncovered how grand she is and all of the inner turmoil that she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something like that.”

Erivo most recently portrayed Elphaba in the aforementionedWicked, with the actress also having starred inWidows, Harriet, Pinocchio, andLuther: The Fallen Sun.

“Cynthia Erivo as Storm? Now that’s a casting that could bring the thunder,” one fanwrote.

“Imagine the elegance and strength she’d bring to the role,”declaredanother.

Erivo is a huge star at the moment. With this interview now doing the rounds, I wouldn’t be surprised if it caught the attention of Marvel’s executives.
