Before the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield arrived on the military shooter scene, there was another and that other was Medal of Honor.
Granted,Medal of Honorwas not the first military shooter video game but it’s fair to say that it helped pave the way for the likes of Activision’sCall of Dutyseries. The first game in the Medal of Honor series was released in 1999 for the originalPlayStationbefore making its way onto other platforms in the years that followed.

At the time of writing, there appear to be no signs of the Medal of Honor series making a comeback on main consoles, which is a shame. Electronic Arts is still focused on fixing theBattlefieldseries and now it seems that the publisher ismoving on to its next entry.
“With the power and fidelity of Unreal Engine 5, I was able to recreate and remaster the Algerian town of Arzew, featured in the opening mission,” said van Laar in the description of the YouTube video. “It was a lot of fun to make, with the help of Quixel’s Megascans, the Epic marketplace and friends and family.”

The locations created in the reimagining are very well-detailed and the use of theMedal of Honor: Allied Assaultsoundtrack slaps with a massive dose of nostalgia. It must be noted that the reimagining has been created for educational purposes and will not be made public to play, to avoid the wrath of the Electronic Arts lawyers.
It remains to be seen whether Electronic Arts will ever give us a main entry in the Medal of Honor series again, but I certainly hope that it does. In the meantime, at least from an Electronic Arts perspective, all we can hope for is that the Battlefield series returns to its former glory.
