Arguably, the series shot to its highest of heights with the release ofMetal Gear Solidfor the originalPlayStationin 1998. More recently, along withMGS2andMGS3(as well as other bonus features), it was re-released in 2023 as part of theMaster Collection Vol.1.

Following the release ofMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1, fans of theKonamiseries have eagerly awaited the release ofVol.2and with hints of its arrival, many will be hoping thatMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotswill be part of that bundle of joy.

Other than being a fantastic game, the reason why many fans are hoping thatMetal Gear Solid 4will be included inVol.2of the collection is that this title originally released in 2008 has never been available on any other platform outside of the PlayStation 3.
In the immediate future, Konami is focused on theMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eaterremake and recently, I had the opportunity to chat withgame producer Noriaki Okamuraabout remaking the all-time great. However, once theMGS3remake is out the way, fans are wondering if a multi-platformMetal Gear Solid 4could be next.
Duringan interview withIGN, Okamura was asked about the prospect ofMetal Gear Solid 4being included in theMaster Collection Vol.2and while he was very vague, he acknowledged that he is “aware” of its interest.
“Unfortunately, we can’t really say too much at the moment withVol. 1containingMGS 1-3dot dot dot… you can probably connect the dots," he teased. “Right now, we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can’t really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned.”

I think it’s pretty much a given thatMetal Gear Solid 4will be included in theMaster Collection Vol.2and it will be nice for this game to be finally free of its PS3 shackles.
As for the next game in the series, the aforementioned remake,Metal Gear Solid Solid Delta: Snake Eaterdoes not have a release date at the time of writing, but it will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
