Metroid Prime 4: Beyond revealed by Nintendo, 7 years after initial announcement

After seven years of waiting, one highly anticipated Nintendo Switch title has finally received a release window - and it looks pretty incredible.

First announced way back in 2017 during E3,Metroid Prime 4(as it was originally called) has finally received a trailer and a release window during today’sNintendoDirect. Not only that but we now know it will be titledMetroid Prime 4: Beyond.

“After a very long time, we are finally able to share more information about this title”, the announcement began. “Release is planned for 2025, so please wait a little bit longer. We hope you’re looking forward to Samus Aran’s new adventure”.

The trailer gives us our first look at gameplay as well as the enemies our Samus will have to fight. We see the armour-clad hero arrive in style on their ship before they embark on a journey blasting aliens, avoiding missile attacks and scanning fallen enemies for more information.

As well as the new title update, we also got our first look at the new logo. Instead of the original which was just black, the logo forMetroid Prime 4: Beyondhas purple hues and that was enough to get fans excited for the long-awaited entry in the series.

With the franchise ongoing since the first title in 2002, it has racked up a legion of dedicated fans and it is those fans who now have a release date (or at least the year) for the upcomingMetroid Prime 4: Beyond.
