
Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann had a lot to say this week but now the game developer has turned his attention to the ever-popular discussion on AI.
As the head ofNaughty Dogas well as being the creative director, designer, and programmer behind some of its flagship titles such asThe Last of Usand theUnchartedseries, Druckmann has made quite a name for himself in the gaming industry.

With rumours swirling as to what his next project may be, the Naughty Dog developer is not giving much away but this week saw him announce that the use of Artificial Intelligence will push the studio to create “more adventurous projects”.

“Moreover, AI is really going to revolutionise how content is being created, although it does bring up some ethical issues we need to address.”
The “ethical issues” of course refers to the fear that the increased use of AI will replace the jobs of human developers. However, Druckmann didn’t expand on this any further.

However, he did say that the use of AI would allow Naughty Dog to “take on more adventurous projects and push boundaries of storytelling in games”.
It is worth noting that AI has been implemented into the gaming industry for a long time such as in instances of procedurally generated environments and NPC behaviour.
Regardless, people are understandably worried that its increased use in all areas of game development will have a profound effect on the industry and its workers.
