Need For Speed fans stunned by Unreal Engine 5 remake of fan-favourite

When it comes to video game racing franchises, very few have been around longer than Need for Speed from publisher Electronic Arts.

The Need for Speed series made its debut in 1994 onPCandPlayStation. Over the years, the series has evolved massively improving its visuals, gameplay and content on each new console generation with the latest release beingNeed for Speed Unboundfor PC, PlayStation 5 andXboxSeries X/S in 2022.

Arguably, the most popular entries in theNeed for Speedseries areUnderground,Most WantedandHot Pursuit. However, there was one entry that has perhaps been forgotten in time and that’s the fourth release in the series,Need for Speed: High Stakeswhich was released in 1999.

The most recent video uploaded features the Snowy Ridge track, which is claimed to be a like-for-like recreation of the original track and all models, textures and sound effects have been made from scratch and not taken from the original game.

Sadly, it’s unlikely that this fan-made remake ofNeed for Speed: High Stakeswill be made public to avoid angering the Electronic Arts lawyers. That being said, it’s nice to see that a forgotten classic from this beloved series is still getting some love after all these years.
