New Hogwarts Legacy accidentally confirmed early, Batman: Arkham studio helping develop

Hogwarts Legacywas 2023’s best-selling game and so many expected that a paid expansion may eventually land, taking us to an as-yet unexplored location - like Diagon Alley, for example.

Instead, players were treated to, if that’s the right word, the free summer update which added a photo mode and new cosmetics alongside unlocking the ‘Haunted Hogsmeade Shop’ quest onXbox,Nintendo Switch, andPC.

The quest was a formerPlayStationexclusive, meaning those on Sony’s consoles have even less new content to enjoy.

Even if Avalanche didn’t want to venture down the paid DLC route, it certainly would’ve been nice to see activities like Crossed Wands and Summoner’s Court expanded.

It appears though as if Avalanche may have been holding back because something much larger is on the horizon.

A new report claims that aHogwarts Legacy: Director’s Cutis in the works.

This tidbit of news comes courtesy of Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier who announced that a director’s cut of the game was in the works in anew reporton the troubled development ofSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League.

Rocksteady, the developer ofSuicide Squad, is reportedly supporting Avalanche on the director’s cut as both studios are under the Warner Bros Games banner.

Beyond this, there’s not much in the way of detail at this point in time.

If you think about other director’s cuts you’ve played, they usually feature two key things: restored content and new content.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered,a director’s cut in all but name, added No Return and the Lost Levels.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cutadded the Iki Island DLC.

This could bring the expansionHogwarts Legacyfans have been waiting for.

It was also heavily rumoured that a companion system was cut from the game during development, so it may be that we see something like this fully realised. Time will tell.
