New James Bond 007 game officially announced

We’re in the midst of a Bond hiatus but worry not, my friends. A new James Bond game is on the way, but it’s not the IO Interactive release if that’s the kind of update you were hoping for.

Daniel Craig’s tenure asJames Bonddrew to a close back in 2021 with the release ofNo Time To Diewhich means, naturally, the internet is rife with rumours as to who will take over the role next. Idris Elba’s name has been thrown around a lot - although hedoesn’t seem overly keen on the idea-as has Aaron Taylor Johnson’s. Given the current Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strikes, what I’d imagine is a long casting process is going to be even more drawn out so in the meantime, we turn to video games. IO Interactive are still keeping hush-hush about their upcoming AAA Bond release, but a new mobile game has arrived from studio TiltingPoint,Cypher 007.

Take a look atCypher 007in action below.

Cypher 007is a brand new mobile game that’s set to release on Apple Arcade on 29 September. Sure, it’s not the AAA release you were hoping for, but one of those is still on the way - where you’ll be able toplay as the ‘original’ Bond.Cypher 007sees players enjoy recognisable Bond scenes from a top-down perspective. You’ll have to face off against Spectre and a couple of familiar villainous faces.

I’ll admit, it looks pretty fun. As mentioned, the game is set to release on Apple Arcade on 29 September. There’s no word on whether it’s scheduled to come to any further platforms at a later date.
