Nintendo has reaffirmed that we’re getting a major The Legend of Zelda release before the end of this decade. Yay!

TheLegend of Zeldais without question one of the biggest video game properties of all time, and not just for theNintendobrand, but the industry as a whole. Since it made its debut on theNESin 1986, it has given players a sense of adventure that no other game has been able to provide.

Sometimes, video game properties are so popular that they spawn abig moviefor the silver screen, which can be a very mixed bag of tricks. Case and point, the woeful (and you know that it is) live-actionSuper Mario Bros.movie from 1993.

Sadly, The Legend of Zelda movie will not be animated but instead live-action. So I’ll guess we just have to hope that it doesn’t share the same fate as the 1993Super Mario Bros.

According to a recent Nintendo investor call, we can at least expect The Legend of Zelda’s live-action movie to arrive this decade.

To be fair, that vague timeline does make sense because we still don’t know who will direct, produce or star in the movie. We can only assume that it might tell the cliché story of Link saving Princess Zelda from Ganondorf.

We’ll keep you posted once we hear more on The Legend of Zelda andSuper Mario Bros. Movie 2.
