Nintendo finally makes ‘console’ announcement, but it’s not the Switch 2

As revealedon the official Nintendo of EuropeTwitter account, we will be graced with aLEGOGame Boy in October this year.

This is actually part of a line of Nintendo-related LEGO products that have seen release over the last few years, such as theLEGO Nintendo Entertainment Systemthat was revealed back in 2020.

Now before you get too excited, I’d be very surprised if this is actually a functioning Game Boy.

You’re not gonna be able to slotTetrisinto this bad boy and fire up a game.

Much like the LEGO NES, it’ll likely come with some sort of display that you can manually change and some tactile buttons you can mash - but that’s probably the most you’ll be getting out of it, beyond building it.

Of course, it does seem like a slightly odd time to announce something like this, considering how manyNintendo Switch 2leaks we’ve had in the past few months.

A lot of the folks on Twitter couldn’t help but poke fun at the reveal as a result.

“Finally,” commenteduser @Nickakyoin, “The Switch’s successor.”

“ayo bro they out here spoiling the Switch 2 what are yalls doooing,” replieduser @InfernoOmni.

It does seem a little funny given that the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal is likely to be days away at this point but hey, cut them a little bit of slack - it’s not like they leaked the thing themselves.

There’s currently no info on how much the LEGO Game Boy will cost, nor are there any images of it beyond what was shown in that little snippet, but we’ll make sure to keep you update should any new info appear online.
