TheMetal Gearseries would get further sequels, the most recent of which wasMetal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painin 2015. And yes, I’m doing my best to ignore 2018’sMetal Gear Survive. However, the series has received somewhat of a resurgence in recent months following the release ofMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1which includes remasters of the original games from 1987 to 2004.

This news has given fans hope that we might finally get the remake of the originalMetal Gear Solidthat we’ve been dreaming of. Not to ignore the 2004 remake on the Nintendo GameCube,Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Yet, could the originalMetal Gear Solidof the PS1 be the next remake? I’m not 100% sure.

The original game on the PS1 is the most likely outcome, but Konami is using theMetal Gear Solid 3remake as the starting point for a potential reboot. So it’s not outside the realms of possibility that any of the NES or PSP games might be remade first, after all, they all arrived chronologically before the PS1 game. Yes,Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Painis set before the NES games, but I doubt we’ll be getting a remake of that any time soon.

Whatever happens to the series following the upcoming remake, it’s an exciting time to be a fan of the series.Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eaterwill be released this year on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
