Capcom has been doing a great job with the Resident Evil remakes, bringing each of them into the modern day with better visuals and gameplay.
Of course, the originalResident Evilhasn’t yet had theUnreal Enginemakeover. So, for now, we’ll have to make do with this fan-made project which looks utterly stunning. A group of fans have come together to give the OG survival horror a full-onUnreal Engine 5 remake, making all of those nasty enemies look deadlier than ever before.

From that classic moment when the firstzombieturns its head after munching down on a corpse, to the huge spiders scurrying across the ceiling, the new Unreal Engine flavour looks wonderful. Blood has a sheen to it, the darkened corridors actually feel spooky once again, and character models have actual character.
The original, which was released in 1996, was known for its atmosphere, something that hasn’t really held up with the passage of time. Using newer technology the corners of the bleak mansion are pitch black, hiding away some genuine scares again. The only pain here is that this isn’t coming fromCapcom, which would just put the cherry on top of the macabre cake.
The team has done a great job, particularly in bringing the ‘over the shoulder’ camera to the game. This alone makes the game feel more modern, without even getting to the incredible details that jump out from the new textures. Hopefully, we’ll get our itchy hands on this soon.
