Original Resident Evil gets incredible Unreal Engine 5 remake

For many fans of the survival horror genre, Capcom’s Resident Evil series is the standout franchise alongside the likes of Silent Hill.

Offering challenging gameplay, a wonderfully cheesy story, well-thought-out puzzles and more, the originalResident Evilis a true classic of not just the survival horror genre but of the video game industry as a whole. Then in 2002, this classic game was remade when theResident Evilremake arrived for theNintendoGameCube, arguably one of the best remakes of all time.

In recent years, Capcom has remadeResident Evil 2,Resident Evil 3andResident Evil 4to great success. If the company were to now follow a mainline chronological order, it’s possible thatResident Evil 5could be the next game to receive the makeover treatment. Yet, many fans are calling forResident Evil Code: Veronicaand perhaps even the original game to be remade again.

The developers will even offer the choice of classic fixed camera angles or the more up-to-date over-the-shoulder perspective. It seems that the developers hope to one day release a playable build of the remake, but it’s likely that Capcom might shut down that project before that day comes. Hopefully, I’m wrong. Either way, be sure to take a look at the impressive gameplay trailer.
