Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, then you may have heard of a new game calledPalworld, initially dubbed ‘Pokémon with guns’, but as we’ve learned, it’s much more than that.

Sure, the developers will probably expand the world, add in more Pals, and grow the story, too. But what we have here is already great, and features so many small details you’ll be amazed at what you discover. It’s a little rough around the edges in places, but the blueprint and starting product are more than enough to keep you going. With a dedicated community,Palworldcan only get better. Is it aPokemonbeater? Probably not, but it deserves its place in the conversation."

Given the obvious comparisons withPokémon, amodderhas already turnedPalworldinto even more of a Pokémon game than it already was and the results are wild, to say the least. Other than the combat, if someone told you thatPalworldis a new Pokémon game, you’d be forgiven for believing them even if for a few seconds.

Palworldis out now on PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One as an early access title. It’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
