It is being reported that Walt Disney will be bringing back Pirates of the Caribbean in 2025, however, the film’s star will not be Johnny Depp.
The news doesn’t really come as much of a surprise. After the court battle with Amber Heard and the preceding controversies,Disneyhas likely decided to distance themselves from the Captain Jack Sparrow star.

While this would be a great direction for the film franchise to take, Depp made the series a huge success with his bizarre performance as Captain Jack Sparrow.
His role has become so popular that the Disney ride the films were based on now features an animatronic of Depp.
The character of Captain Jack has appeared in several video games, including Fortnite in a recent crossover with the franchise.

Understandably, fans aren’t happy about this news.
Twitter is awash with outcry and denial, with many filmgoers claiming they won’t be watching the new instalment.
Directly under the news tweet are replies saying things like “Well, I won’t be returning either,” or “Then what’s the point?”
Then there are the detractors who simply believe the new film is a guaranteed flop ifDepp doesn’t return.

Without a statement from the House of Mouse, it’s hard to say who pulled the trigger here.
Perhaps Depp is happy to step aside, maybe Disney wants to avoid any further controversy.
Until the news becomes a little clearer we’ll have to settle with the fact that the series will continue without the star who launched it.
